We are proud to be working with Book Aid International again this year, following our successful PR support for the charity around World Book Day 2018. Book Aid International is one of the official supported charities for World Book Day, which this year will be held on Thursday 7th March.
On World Book Day, every child in full-time education in the UK is given a voucher to be spent on books, and encouraged to dress up as their favourite book character or join a Big Booky Breakfast. In doing so, children fundraise for charities such as Book Aid International, which sends books and supports libraries in sub-Saharan Africa.
This year, we will help Book Aid International raise vital funds on World Book Day, by highlighting to media the importance of World Book Day and encouraging families across the UK to help fundraise.
Emma Taylor, Head of Communications at Book Aid International, said:
“We are thrilled to have Amazon PR helping us inspire more schools to fundraise, so that we can send books around the world on World Book Day 2019. In the last three years alone, schools have raised over £350,000 by fundraising on World Book Day; which is enough to send over 175,000 new books to schools and libraries. With Amazon PR supporting us to secure the coverage we need, we hope to involve more schools than ever before this year, so we can spread the joy of reading to children across the world who don’t have access to educational and story books.”
